The Secret Diary of an Internet Support Worker
Feb 19th

Password verification reached the fifty mark about 10:30 last night, but no one bothered ringing the engineers up. So that was the first thing I did this morning.
They want chocolate donuts, so I'm sent out to the local cake shop.

As I get back they are just getting out of their Robin Reliant in the car park. They snatch the box of donuts off me, and rush down to the servers in the basement.

I fetched them some coffees and went down after them into the basement. It's very poorly lit, and I think I must have gone the wrong way about 8 times.

There's some very strange noises down there. Heating pipes, the engineers tell me, as they slurp the coffee and scoff the donuts. One of them shows me the way back out to daylight.

An hour later they reappear in the office saying its fixed now, and they've been contacted to go and buy the new mail server. They'll be back at the end of the week.

Can we keep the customers happy til then?
