Diary of a Internet Support Worker.

Yummy

January 24 2000.
Lost count of how many days I've been at work.

It was supposed to be my day off today, but I came in to cover for someone who hadn't turned up. S'funny they were ok in the pub last night. Maybe they had a bad pint. Mind you they serve food as well in the pub, so maybe it was a bad steak and kidney pie?
The newsgroups have been quiet today. Someone has commented on this. I give the standard nonsense about the service must have improved, and get back to answering the phones. Loads of people are ringing to say that they can't get onto the newsgroups.
Its easy to sort out. All the ones that use OE can be told to delete it all and reinstal it. Some of the others are a bit harder to convince that its their settings at fault.
After 400 calls about the newsgroups, we ring the engineer who was fixing the mail server. He apparently got them mixed up, and had disconnected most of it before he'd realised his mistake. Ah well, it'll only take a couple of hours to fix.
